2017 Sprint Distance Race Information

Swim 500 yards Bike 11 Miles Run 3 Miles

Thanks for registering for the 2017 Troika triathlon. We are excited about providing each of you with a wonderful race experience and care for your safety so please read the information below with care.

Registration / Packet Pick Up

Friday May 19th, 3:00-6:00 p.m. @ Fitness Fanatics

We will be there to answer any remaining questions you may have.

Bring photo ID and USAT Membership Card (if you have one).
For participants who do not have a USAT membership card you may purchase a 1-day pass for $15 at packet pick-up. We will send a PDF of the USAT waiver form that you can bring to registration to speed up the process. We must have a signed waiver form from ALL participants. Each participant must pick up their own packet. You CANNOT have someone else pick up your packet and turn in your waiver for you.

Items in packet

  • Timing Chip Must wear on your LEFT ankle. Return at end of race.
  • Swim Cap MUST wear for safety reasons to indentify each athlete.
  • Race Number This must be worn on the back during the bike and the front during the run.
  • USAT Officials InformationUSAT rules will be enforced. It is the ATHLETES' responsibility to know and follow the rules. If you have questions, ASK NOW!

Race Morning - Timeline/Checklist

  • 5:30 am Transition Area Opens- ATHLETES ONLY IN TRANSITION. No spectators allowed!
  • Body Marking Get your race number written on your hands/arms/legs- for safety
  • Drop Bike in transition (T1)
  • Athletes must cross timing mat on way into the water
  • 8:50 am Wave 3 start- Men
  • 8:55 am Wave 4 start- Women and Teams

Swim Course - Approximately 500 yards

  • Wetsuits are legal and recommended, but not required
  • Athletes start on the beach
  • The swim is one clockwise lap
  • Safety boats will provide assistance when needed, but will NOT aid in forward progress
  • Athletes should raise their hand and wave over their head if they need assistance
  • Athletes not familiar with swimming in a group are encouraged to start near the back
  • Swim cutoff time: 45 minutes or 9:40 am

Swim to Bike Transition (T2)

  • ATHLETES ONLY IN TRANSITION
  • Honey Bucket toilets available for changing
  • Family/Spectators will NOT be able to take anything from athletes

Bike Course - Approximately 11 Miles

  • ALL ROADS ARE OPEN TO TRAFFIC. BE ALERT FOR CARS AND OTHER HAZARDS AT ALL TIMES
  • USAT rules apply. NO DRAFTING. SHIRTS MUST BE WORN. NUMBER VISABLE
  • Route marked with ORANGE arrows taped on road, but athletes responsible for knowing the course
  • Athletes are responsible for their own mechanical problems so BE PREPARED
  • There are no aid stations on the bike course

Bike-to-Run Transition (T2)

  • SLOW DOWN coming into transition
  • Dismount in the DISMOUNT ZONE

Run - Approximately 3 Miles

  • Aid stations approximately every mile
  • Aid stations have water, ice, and Hammer Gel and a nutritional bar
  • NO PACING FROM SPECTATORS
  • NO MP3 players, iPods, or earphones are allowed

Teams

  • Athletes must cross timing area before handing off timing chip to teammate
  • Please hand the timing chip to the next leg and it MUST BE WORN BEFORE LEAVING TRANSITION. No chip no time.

Finish

  • Have FUN and celebrate!
  • Medical support available at the finish area
  • Photo booth at finish line. Can take individual photo with finish medal or take photo with family!
  • Awards ceremonies for top 3 in each age group and top team in each team category will take place at approximately 11:30am. Awards will be given out at the 11:30am for age groups that have 3 athletes finished.
  • Athletes must be present to receive their award.
